We (KBLZ+ Mr. Butch Schepel) went to see our favorite married R n R couple, Dean & Britta, play at the HIRO Ballroom in NYC. Over the past 5 years - we have seen about 8 LUNA shows. KPB has never seen a D&B show-- BLS and LAZ went to see D&B- when they were known by B&D, at the Siné in 200(5 0r 4)
So, the show started an hour late because the Hiro Ballroom had been served with an inspection from the board of health- something about "Mental Hygiene." Interesting . . . after the ghost was cleared we were allowed inside. D&B were just milling about in the crowd. KPB had to walk past them to check his coat and when he returned he declared, "Dean is much shorter than I thought." (KPB and LAZ have been "height sensitive" lately. We swear they have shrunk a half inch in the past year.) D&B played a nice selection of older Luna songs, a few songs off of their first album and several songs off of their new album. HIGHLIGHTS: Britta Belting out the refrain of "You Turned My Head Around" and "Strange" the solo- Galaxie 500 song. All and all the show was very nice, but standing for over four hours made everyone a little grumpy. NOTE: Hiro Ballroom is a lot of "design" and only a little "ROCK n ROLL!"
